LM Equipment & Design Inc. - Slitting and Cut-To-Length Lines
Coil processing equipment built by LM is designed to slit the coiled material into narrower widths, and recoil it, or to precision level and cut it into lengths, or a combination of the two processes. LM Equipment is also the exclusive supplier of spare parts and retrofits for Paxson equipment. In addition to manufacturing new equipment, LM reconditions and repairs any brand name of coil processing equipment, supplies new Uncoiler and Recoiler mandrels, leveler pinion stands, and our exclusive torque limiters designed to eliminate universal breakage.
Cut-To-Length Line:
- The Storage Turnstile provides extra coil storage at the point of operation and reduces process downtime.
- The floor-type Coil Loading Car transfers coils from the Turnstile, or customer’s crane, to the Uncoiler fast and efficiently
- Uncoiler Mandrel feeds the slitting line under controlled back tension.
- The Driven Snubber Hold Down Roll prevents outer wraps from unwinding, and assists in feed-up to the Leveler.
- The Automatic Edge Control maintains edge trim automatically by positioning the Uncoiler.
- The Peeler allows back-bending of the lead edge of the coil, to remove coil set, and threads it into the Squaring Guides without manual handling.
- The Squaring Guides allow for easy hands free centering of the strip into the Leveler or Flattener.
- The Leveller or Straightener levels the strip, and corrects shape, at close tolerances.
- An Auxiliary Control Station provides the operator with push-button control at the entry end for feeding and threading operations.
- Catenary Guides provide loop curvature within the yield set limits of the material as specified.
- The Looping Pit provides for continuous coil strip feed while the strip is stopped and cut to proper length.
- Auto-Track Feed Rolls automatically feed, measure and align strip at speeds up to 300 feet per minute.
- The master control station gives the operator push-button control of the entire Cut-To-Length line, including speed and tension.
- LM’s accurate Shear effortlessly cuts strip up to ½” thick.
- The Stacker accepts cut sheets from the Shear for automatic stacking, incorporating side and end tamping for uniformity.
- Automatic Pack Receiving Table receives the individual sheets from the Stacker with drop-arms at a uniform position as the pack builds down.
- Stacker Run-Out Conveyor accepts stacked sheets ready for a crane or further conveying to warehousing location.
Slitting Line:
- The Storage Turnstile provides extra coil storage at the point of operation and reduces process downtime.
- The V-Roll Entry Storage Conveyor may be used to store coils ready to be transferred to the Coil Car
- The floor-type Coil Loading Car transfers coils from the Turnstile, or customer’s crane, to the Uncoiler fast and efficiently. Coil Cars are available in Cradle or V-Roll style.
- The LM Uncoiler Mandrel feeds the slitting line, decoiling material under controlled back tension.
- The Driven Snubber Hold Down Roll prevents the coil’s outer-wraps from unwinding and assists in feed-up to the next line operation.
- The Peeler allows back-bending of the lead edge to remove coil set and threads it into the next line operation without manual handling.
- An Auxiliary Control Station provides the operator with push-button control at the entry end for feeding and threading operations.
- The Automatic Edge Control maintains edge trim automatically during slitting by positioning the Uncoiler.
- The Crop Shear squares off the leading and tail ends of the coil, and is also used for breaking down coils.
- LM’s Slitter, with Pinch Rolls, threads the strip into the knives used with a Guide Table to center the strip. The LM Interchangable Slitter Head is designed to allow changing a set-up without suspending operations.
- The Pit Thread Table is placed in position to feed the strip over the pit from the Slitter to the Tension Stand
- The master control station gives the operator push-button control of the entire slitting line, including speed and tension.
- The LM Equipment Tension Stand (Drag or Roll Style) provides individual back tension to each mult, delivering tightly wound strands at the Recoiler.
- The Recoiler Thread Table is used to thread the strands from the Tension Stand to the Recoiler
- The Recoiler with Overarm Separator, is the workhorse of the slitting line and sets line speed and coil tension. The Overarm Separator will maintain separation between the strands as they are being recoiled and will hold the tails for further processing. Speeds are available up to 2,000 feet per minute.
- The Scrap Winder winds edge trim from the slitter into easily handled scrap bundles.
- The Exit Coil Car is equipped with side supports for narrow slit coils, and has an extra wide platen to accommodate the coil fan out.
- An Exit Unloading Turnstile accepts coils from the Recoiler or Exit Coil Car for storage or staging to a Banding Line.
- The Downlayer receives upright coils from the Exit Turnstile and lays them eye-up onto the Banding Line.
- A Coil Conveyor for the Banding Line transfers the coil to the Bander in either powered or gravity styles.
- The Bander bands coils through the eyes for shipping or storage using standard strapping material, or automatic banding equipment.
- The Exit Conveyor and Automatic Stacker receives coils from the bander and stacks them automatically.
- Six Station Rotary Turntables provide for automatic separation of orders and temporary storage of coils.
